Profile of Fuse Magazine
FUSE is one of Canada's foremost critical periodicals on art and culture. With a focus on visual and media art, and
a strong emphasis on the diverse communities that make up the contemporary Canadian art world, FUSE examines the issues
and emerging debates from a political/cultural perspective. Each issue contains a vibrant mix of opinion, commentary
on the arts, cultural analysis, artist profiles, interviews and critical reviews of art exhibitions and books. FUSE
is published quarterly, and contains over 48 pages of original content in every issue.
Circulation
With an approximate readership of 6,000 readers per issue, we reach 24,000 readers per year across North
America. Our subscriber base is made up of high proportion of long-time, committed readers, and comprises one third
of the total circulation. Reference libraries and post-secondary institutions around the world are ongoing subscribers.
FUSE is also distributed on newsstands across Canada. Currently, we are gradually expanding our Canadian newsstand
presence and paid subscriber base.
Fuse Readers
Our reader surveys show that the FUSE audience is highly
discerning, made up of a unique and influential community with a keen
interest in Canadian art. Here are some key results from our last reader
survey:
• 92% of readers have some post-secondary education,
47% have at least some post-graduate education;
• 66% earn $40,000 or more;
• 85% visit art galleries more than twice a month;
• our readers buy on average at least 2 books a
month;
• other key areas of interest are electronics,
films and video, theatre, dance, live and recorded music, and political
messages
• FUSE readers travel a great deal, with an average
of 4.5 trips a year;
• with a slight female skew of 53%, the audience
shows a remarkably even gender balance.
